Description

New York February 16, 1771 £10 PMG Very Fine 30.
Authorized by an act that took several tries to successfully pass, £120,000 in Bills of Credit was issued, receivable for taxes. The £10 note was the largest denomination issued, with 6,000 notes approved for issue. The note is well printed on bright paper with clear bold design details and decent margins. The signatures of Theophylact Bache, Samuel Verplanck, and A. Lott are clear and legible. PMG mentions tear repairs, primarily limited to short edge tears and nicks which are not overly distracting. This note is near the top of the population reported in the PMG Population Report with only three notes besting it.
