Description

Gem Unc New Jersey 12s with John Hart Signature

New Jersey March 25, 1776 12s PMG Superb Gem Unc 67 EPQ.
The legislation authorizing the emission of which this note was a part was initiated in 1768 but was caught up in bureaucratic wrangling for more than eight years before the Revolution make approval of the Crown a moot point. A total of 37,500 notes of this denomination were authorized and, ironically, feature the royal coat of arms on the face along with the ubiquitous willow leaf nature print on the back. The note is well printed on bright paper with original surfaces and embossing and has sharply printed design elements. The signatures of Robert Smith, John Stevens, Jr., and John Hart, who also signed the Declaration of Independence, are dark and bold. All in all, this is a stunning example which has earned every point of its 67 Exceptional Paper Quality grade. Any collection will benefit from the addition of this striking note which currently sits in the "top pop" position in the PMG Population Report.
