A total of 12,000 $3 notes were printed for this emission. The $3 example is clearly printed on good paper with decent margins with legible signatures of David Brearley, who later signed the United States Constitution, Dickinson, and Joseph Borden, who in 1765 was a delegate to the Stamp Act Congress. The back has an emblem showing a heron and eagle fighting with the motto EXITUS IN DUBIO EST (The issue is in doubt).
