Description

Massachusetts October 18, 1776 4s/6d PCGS Very Fine 20. Nicely printed, this lovely Codfish was signed by Nathan Adams. Paul Revere printed the faces and John Gill printed the backs. The design on the back includes a cast cut of a pine tree. Gill was born in Charlestown, MA and served an apprenticeship with Samuel Kneeland. Gill and Benjamin Edes were partners from about 1755-75. Gill issued the newspaper, The Continental Journal. Only 5143 of these notes were printed and we have been able to offer few examples of this denomination over the years.
