Description

Massachusetts July 8, 1775 12s PCGS Banknote Very Fine 20 Details.
Paul Revere printed this issue and this is the first time that we have been able to offer this denomination. Revere prepared the original May 25, 1775, plates and printed that earlier issue. For the July 8, 1775, issue, Revere modified the May 25, 1775, plates with the new dates and printed this issue, too. Serial number 443 in this lot is the sole finest example graded by PCGS Banknote. We also see that PMG has graded only one example and it grades Good 6. We have only auctioned one example previously and it was the note in this lot. This note with two hole cancels realized $2,460 in July 2023. This note was previously part of the collections of F.C.C. Boyd, followed by John J. Ford, Jr. PCGS Banknote mentions that the note is repaired and backed and has an annotation on the back.
