Description

Massachusetts 1779 5s PMG Very Fine 20.
This note was issued as part of a substitute denomination portion of the October 16, 1778 emission. A new face plate was engraved by Paul Revere. Revere printed the faces of these notes featuring a wonderful vignette of the sun rising and Thomas Fleet printed the backs which featured the iconic Pine Tree. The note is well printed with a bold signature of Richard Cranch. PMG notes some minor repairs which are both well done and difficult to locate through the holder.
From the Colonial Valley Collection, Part II
