The back of this mid-grade $4 Maryland Colonial bears an emblem of an arm holding a shield with the motto SUB CLYPEO (Under divine protection) surrounding it. Printed by Frederick Green in Annapolis, MD, notes from this series are well known for being conditionally impaired. While the note offered here has seen time in circulation, it has survived without attracting any meaningful condition impairments.
