Description

Rare Low Denomination Ben Franklin Note

Delaware March 1, 1758 18d PCGS Banknote Choice Fine 15 Details.
Issued under the Act of March 1, 1758 that authorized £4,000 in Bills of Credit to pay public expenses, this note has seen extensive circulation resulting in small pieces added, edge and internal repairs, reconstruction. Printed by Benjamin Franklin and David Hall. You easily count on one hand the number of 18d notes that are known. Despite its problems, experienced Colonial collectors will be unfazed by these condition issues, knowing that it may be a long time before another example becomes available in any, yet alone better, condition. Our own Auction Archives as well as the PMG Population Report both confirm what your erudite cataloger has known for years; the highest denomination notes from these early Franklin issues account for an overwhelming percentage of survivors. An absolutely crushing rarity that should not be overlooked.
