Description

Continental Currency September 26, 1778 $30 PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.
The $30 Continental in this lot features an emblem on the face at left depicting a wreath on a tomb. The words SI RECTE FACIES (If you act righteously you will be honored after death) appear in the motto surrounding the vignette. XXX DOLLARS., which denotes this example's denomination in Roman numerals, is observed just below the emblem. On the back, a nature print of three willows displays the capabilities of printers Hall & Sellers. The signatures of R(obert) Cather and Jo(seph) Snowden are darkly penned along the bottom of the face. We have not auctioned a comparable note of this number since February 2024, when another PMG 63 graded representative with a minor repair brought $1,320. Our current offering is hinged.
