Part of an issue of $5,000,000 authorized by Resolutions of November 2 and December 28, 1776, this $2 features an emblem depicting grain being threshed by a flail with the motto TRIBULATIO DITAT (Affliction improves it) on the face and a nature print of a raspberry and two filbert leaves on the back. A pleasant note with eight full margins and a bold signature of Daniel Carroll, who signed both the Articles of Confederation and the United States Constitution
