Continental Currency May 20, 1777 $3 PMG Very Fine 30 EPQ.
Part of an emission of $16,500,000, this note was called for exchange prior to January 1, 1779. This date was extended to January 1, 1781 by which time the notes were virtually worthless. The $3 features an eagle and a heron fighting with the motto EXITUS IN DUBIO EST (The outcome is in doubt) while the back has a nature print of skeletonized elm and maple fruit. The note is clearly printed on bright paper with eight full margins.
