Continental Currency May 10, 1775 $30 PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.
The $30 denomination was the largest value issued as part of the emissions authorized by the May 10, 1775, Session of the Continental Congress. It features an emblem depicting a wreath on a tombstone with the motto SI RECTE FACIES (If you act righteously you will be honored after death) on the face and two emblems on the back; the left one depicting a strong wind creating waves with the motto VI CONCITATE (Driven by force) and the right one depicting the sun shining on ships in a calm sea with the motto CESSANTE VENTO CONQUIESCEMUS (When the storm dies down we will rest). The note has sharply printed design details on bright paper with decent margins and has clear bold signatures of John Shee and Thomas Lawrence.
