Stunning Gem 1776 $5 Continental Currency

Continental Currency July 22, 1776 $5 PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ★ .
Resolutions of July 22 and August 13,1776, authorized $5,000,000 in Continental Currency. The $5 design comprised the standard layout, with the face having an emblem showing a hand gathering food being wounded after it was put into a thorny bush with the motto SUSTINE VEL ABSTINE (Either survive or give up), while the back has the standard nature print of betony and sage leaves. Printed on particularly nice paper with well matched margins, this example has also earned PMG's black star designation. The signatures and serial number are also dark and bold. This example is presently the "top pop" note listed in the PMG Population Report.
