Bright AU $1/6 Fugio Note
Continental Currency February 17, 1776 $1/6 PMG About
Uncirculated 53.Payable in Spanish milled dollars, this odd denomination $1/6 piece was part of $4,000,000 in Continental Currency authorized for this emission. This fascinating piece features several Benjamin Franklin produced design elements. On the face at right is the famed sundial rebus with the FUGIO. / MIND YOUR BUSINESS motto. The back features 13 linked chains representing the 13 Colonies linked together as one nation. Each link bears the name of a Colony. At center of this ring, a sun shines with bright rays. This sun contains the words AMERICAN CONGRESS: WE ARE ONE. The $1/6 denomination is the lowest of the four small denomination pieces which comprise the Fugio note series. While this note does have a minor repair, it bears a full frame with a boldly penned signature on the face.
