Continental Currency February 17, 1776 $1/6 PMG About Uncirculated 50.A lightly circulated example of the ever popular $1/6 Fugio design is offered in this lot. The sun shines brilliantly on a sundial with the FUGIO. MIND YOUR BUSINESS motto displayed prominently in the emblem at left on the face. This rebus was inspired by Benjamin Franklin's musings in his "Poor Richard" series and was sketched by Franklin himself. Similarly, the back of this piece, also designed by Franklin, showcases 13 links which symbolize the 13 Colonies, joined together around the AMERICAN CONGRESS. WE ARE ONE text at center. Each chain link bears the name of a colony. Payable in Spanish milled dollars, this impressive piece is a scarcity due to its AU grade. The lack of any meaningful condition impairments contributes further to this delightful note's desirability.
