Description

Continental Currency July 22, 1776 $2, $3, $4, $5, $6, $7, $8 and $30 PCGS Apparent Very Fine 35.
A complete half sheet of one of the more difficult Continental issues. Even our massive "Patriotic American" auction of Continental notes did not have a multiple from this issue save for a half sheet of Counterfeit Detectors. We have handled a few Detector part sheets but never before a multiple of issued notes. The PCGS numerical grade of Very Fine seems a touch conservative. Each note has a double horizontal fold but little else to separate it from Uncirculated. The apparent grade has been assigned for "Repaired Edge Tear at Top Center; Paper Toned." The edge tear is about half an inch long and affects only the blank area between notes. The paper is toned but not severely so. The significant Continental multiple ideal for framing or suitable for an advanced collection of Continentals. All eight of the vignettes (ten if the two on the back of the $30 are counted) are extremely sharp, showing their full detail and the Latin mottos surrounding.
