Description

Continental Currency February 17, 1776 $1 PMG Very Good 10 Net.
The Resolution of February 17, 1776, authorized $3,000,000 in dollar denominated notes in addition to the fractional notes. Somewhat surprisingly, the $1 is one of the rarer denominations encountered in the Continental Currency series. The face has an emblem of a weighted bowl on an acanthus plant with the motto DEPRESSA RESURGIT (Though crushed it recovers) while the back has a nature print of ragweed and willow leaves. PMG mentions a tear on this example at top center.
