Description

Connecticut May 28, 1790 Ralph Pomeroy Comptroller Receipt PCGS Superb Gem New 67PPQ.
Unlisted in Anderson and scarce, with only a handful of these passing through our auctions. Not to be confused with the hole-cancelled and slash-cancelled fiscal paper that seems to show up in our auctions every month. Dated May 28, 1790 and made out for 8 Pounds 3 Shillings 9 Pence. To be received by Ralph Pomeroy, the state comptroller in Hartford. Unfathomably deep embossing adds to the aesthetic beauty of this fiscal note. With cancelled Extremely Fine examples of common fiscal paper selling for $50-$75, we would expect this lovely uncancelled near-Gem example of a scarce type to sell for much more. This is easily the highest graded example we have offered.
