Description

Attractive and Rare Morton NB of Madisonville Red Seal

Madisonville, KY - $10 1902 Red Seal Fr. 615 The Morton National Bank Ch. # (S)8386 PCGS Banknote Choice VF 35 PPQ.
This quite lovely note comes from this excessively rare private name bank that was only open for eleven months from October of 1906 until its liquidation in September of 1907. It is one of just three notes reported from this short-lived charter - all $10 Red Seals and all, remarkably, in relatively high grade. Making its first public appearance since our 2006 Long Beach auction, this offering has white paper, a robust red overprint, strong embossing, and beautiful pen signatures of W.J. Ruby and W.C. Morton. A great note that combines rarity and condition.
