Description
Iconic, Fully-Issued $1000 of 1953 Featuring Queen Elizabeth II
Malaya and British Borneo Board of Commissioners of Currency
1000 Dollars 21.3.1953 Pick 6a B106 KNB6a PMG About Uncirculated
50 EPQ.The Board of Commissioners of Currency in Malaya and British Borneo replaced Straits Settlements with notes of the same denominations in 1953. Queen Elizabeth II replaced King George VI on this series, which was in service from 1953 until 1967 at minimum, and possibly until 1973 in some cases. This stunning 1000 Dollars was the highest denomination of the series to be available for use by the public, as the $10,000 note was strictly used between banks. Paper notes of the Straits Settlements, Malaya, and Malaya & British Borneo were pegged to the British Pound at the rate of $1 to 2 Shilling 4 Pence. After some division, this enormous $1000 note was worth nearly £117 / $328 USD in 1953, which was a hefty sum of money in this region, or frankly, in any country or colony. Adjusted for inflation, 1000 Malayan Dollars explodes to $3,877 USD in present terms. As such, issuance of this denomination was small, as most transactions demanded a more exchangeable denomination of paper notes and coins. Despite its imposing spending power, this note was thankfully saved to enjoyed by collectors today. Complete originality is seen through the third party holder as this note is uncleaned, unwashed, and void of any pressing or repairs. Original paper, with completely crisp nature is easily viewed, coupled with bright colors and an overall pleasant visual appeal. At the time of cataloging, only 22 examples of this note are graded by PMG, with only two pieces scoring higher in the census. This note is rarely offered and it is coveted by collectors worldwide. Especially decent and very rare, especially at this grade level.

PMG About Uncirculated 50 EPQ。
