Excessively Rare Independence Large Size - Unique for the Title

Independence, OR - $20 1902 Plain Back Fr. 652 First National Bank Ch. # 3979 PCGS Banknote Very Fine 25 Details.
This great Oregon rarity hails from one of the most difficult towns in the state from which to locate a large size National Bank Note. Independence was the host to two national banks - Charter 3972, which was a Brown Back only bank, and which has just a single note reported, and Charter 3979, which has just two large size in the census, with one note each known between its two issuing titles. This offering bears the latter title and is a note that is crossing the public auction block for the first time. At first glance, it displays solid paper for the grade with pleasing color, however, backlighting reveals that the corners have been rebuilt, small internal repairs are present, and there are partially removed stains. Nonetheless, expect serious competition from the many collectors of this Pacific Northwest state tonight when this rarity crosses the auction block.
