Description
Second Reported Oregon City Large Size
Oregon City, OR - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 626 The First National
Bank Ch. # 8556 PMG Very Fine 20 Net.This is a significant Oregon rarity that is only the second large size to be reported from this one-bank community and the first of the pair to ever appear at public sale. Opening in 1907, this Clackamas County charter maintained only a minimal level of circulation and had just $900 outstanding in large size in 1935. For decades, no large notes were known from this charter until recently when a damaged $10 Plain Back was reported to the National Currency Foundation census. Now, a second $10 has surfaced and it provides one lucky collector the opportunity to finally acquire a large note from this heretofore unavailable bank. According to PMG, it has had some repairs, but it still maintains an attractive appearance with good color and legible signatures. We will be conservative in our estimate and let the bidders decide who takes home this Oregon trophy tonight.
