Description
Camden, AR- D.W. Fellows 25¢ Mar. 28, 1862 Rothert UNL PCGS Banknote Fine 12.D(an) W. Fellows moved to Camden in 1848 and established a general store in 1860. He served as the County Treasurer from 1864-66 and became well-known in the area as a businessman and lawyer. Though no vignettes are present on the face, this elusive piece features ornate blue lathework panels at either end. At left, a green "25 Cents" protector is present, and at center, a large "Twenty-Five Cents" overprint presents itself. While a 25¢ note is recorded in the Rothert reference for this issuer, that design does not include the large green overprint at center on the note in this lot. Thus, our current offering is unlisted. We have not auctioned a 25¢ piece of any design from this merchant previously.
Estimate: $300 - up.
