Cahawba, AL- State of Alabama $20 Dec. 19, 1821/20 Cr. C42 Gunther-Derby AS-001-$20d PMG Choice Very Fine 35 Net.Serving as the plate note in both the Shull and Gunther-Derby references, this note was payable to A.P. Bagby, State Representative from Monroe County and future (1837-1841) Governor of Alabama. The note, which has been hammer-canceled, faces up quite well, with PMG noting that it has tears, a bit of rust, and has been backed. Excessively rare and perhaps unique.
