Fr. 1133-B $1,000 1918 Federal Reserve Note PMG Very Fine
20.Despite having the largest print run for any district (124,800 notes), the percentage of surviving New York $1,000s is far lower than other districts. In fact, barely half as many survivors are known in total from New York compared to San Francisco examples, of which 22,000 notes were printed and issued. This piece, which is crossing the auction block for the first time, is a new addition to the paltry 35 examples reported for this Friedberg number. It exhibits nice color for the grade, but it does have pinholes, some teller ink, and a small tear. Recently, another PMG Very Fine 20 note, with several flaws, sold at auction for $12,000.
Estimate: $12,000 - up.
