Description

Monterey, VA - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 626 The First National Bank Ch. # (S)9043 PMG Very Fine 25.
Chartered in 1908 and liquidated in late 1929, this bank was only able to issue large size notes totaling less than $400,000 in total face value. This offering is one of just seven pieces in the National Currency Foundation census and it is being publicly offered for the first time. Bearing an appealing "tombstone style" bank title layout, it is a pleasing, moderately circulated $10 with good color and clear stamped signatures.
