Serial Number 1 Luray, VA - $5 1902 Red Seal Fr. 587 The Page
Valley National Bank Ch. # (S)6206 PMG Choice Very Fine 35.This great Virginia rarity is one of only six Serial Number 1 Red Seals reported from all banks in the state, according to the National Currency Foundation census. Crossing the auction block for the first time, this is the only Number 1 example known from this Page County bank. It is a pen-signed beauty with bold ink colors and just some light storage folds. In the past year, we have auctioned two other Number 1 Virginia Red Seals, both from Esmont, with both notes fetching between $18,000 and $20,000. This Virginia trophy note from the Page Valley National Bank should certainly approach those realizations.
