Description

Angelica, NY - $5 1875 Fr. 401 The First National Bank Ch. # 564 PMG Very Fine 20.
A very rare note, this piece hails from the only bank to issue in this obscure Allegany County community and a charter that was placed in receivership in 1886, leaving just $2,041 outstanding in 1916. Just five pieces are reported from this bank, most of them well circulated. This 1875 $5 is just about the best of that quintet and was last on the market in our auction of The Bill Sabis Collection in 2003. It has nice color and signatures for the grade with PMG just mentioning pinholes.
