(Madison), Wisconsin Territory- Secretary of the Territory $5 Feb. 19, 1842 Krause Page 516 Durand WIT-35 Fine-Very Fine, CC.Commonly known as 1842 scrip, this example was part of a series of notes issued by a chronically short of money territory. This example is payable to Charles Sholes of Racine. He was the printer of this issue. He also was the father of typewriter inventor, Christopher Sholes. There is a small spot adjacent to the left edge.
