Providence, RI- Bank of the Republic $5 Oct. 1, 1855 G8a Durand 1088 PCGS Very Fine 25.
The Bank of the Republic was a short lived institution, incorporated in 1854 and in business until 1856, when it failed. At center is a majestic depiction of the U.S. Capitol before the center dome was replaced in the 1860s, at right is a female portrait, and at left is an allegorical female holding a sword and federal shield. Near her feet, a cornucopia overflows with agricultural products. Our current offering bears the coveted Serial Number 1 which is always popular with collectors. There are no meaningful condition impairments.
