Description

Princeton, MS- Lake Washington and Deer Creek Rail Road & Banking Company $50 18__ G10 Kraus 10493p Leggett 11 Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 64.
The Lake Washington and Deer Creek Rail Road & Banking Company was in operation from 1836-38. This attractive $50, produced by Underwood, Bald, Spencer & Hufty, features Justice holding her scales and a caduceus and leaning on a pillar containing a portrait of George Washington at left. At right, three figures recline. From left to right, they can be identified as Ceres clutching a sickle, a Native American woman leaning against a federal shield, and a sailor. In the distance, sailing vessels brave the high seas. We have auctioned just one other example of this design and denomination previously. That piece, also graded PMG CU 64, had signature cut outs and brought $456 in July 2025. Our current offering, which is printed on India paper with no forms of cancellation present, should attain a higher realization.
