Description

De Soto, NE (Territory)- Bank of De Soto $1 Oct. 1, 1863 G2c PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.
The bank was chartered in 1857 over the Governor's veto and remained in business for a few years before failing in the Spring of 1862. These notes were never placed in circulation by the bank as they arrived after the bank's demise, the $1 features a vignette of a farm family in conversation with the local blacksmith titled HOME. A Native American family is depicted at bottom left and a portrait of Daniel Webster is at lower right. A large green ONE protector completes the design.
