Description
Holly Springs, MS- Real Estate Banking Company $2 18__ as G12 Kraus 14651p Leggett 33 Proof PMG Uncirculated 62.The company was an unchartered financial institution organized in 1837 which soon foundered and was absorbed by the Northern Bank of Mississippi under the terms of that bank's amended charter. The $2 design features a vignette of a couple under a tree watching field hands work in the distance flanked by four oval cameo-like medallion head counters. The note is printed on India paper with PMG mentioning a sealed tear in the lower left corner that is not overly distracting. This note is likely part of an uncut $1-$1-$1-$2 sheet, subsequently cut, that appeared in Lot 814 in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale. Possibly unique or nearly so in Proof form.
