Description

Pennsylvania March 25, 1775 16s PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.
This gorgeous lighthouse note is tied with two others, with a single 66 EPQ better, for all denominations for the entire series. This note has a vignette of the Cape Henlopen Lighthouse on the back. The issue was authorized to raise funds for the lighthouse, buoys, and piers. Cape Henlopen, which is now in Delaware, was somewhat informally considered to be a part of Pennsylvania at that time. Wonderfully signed by Ezekiel Edwards, Charles Wharton, and Richard Vaux. The Lighthouse vignette on the back is inverted, as always, for this highest denomination note. In our recently completed FUN auction we sold a 4s note, at this same PMG Gem Unc 65 EPQ grade level, for $3,120.
