Description
New Haven, CT- New Haven County Bank $20 18__ G52 Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ.The $20 design features a vignette of a sailboat and several other vessels at center flanked by two identical designs of Minerva standing with two allegorical women, one on each end. A dog and safe vignette symbolizing Fidelity is at bottom center. The note is printed on India paper mounted on card with four POCs in the signature lines that is, in turn, mounted on an original Charles Toppan & Co. archive book card. We are aware of two examples at present, one listed and illustrated in Proof form by Haxby and one in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale, with Bowers estimating a surviving population of 5-8 notes, although that may include examples in issued form as well.
