Blountsville, AL- R.B. Montgomery $2 Apr. 1, 1862 Gunther-Derby AO-120-$2a Rosene 22-2 PMG Fine 12.R(obert) B(artley) Montgomery was a merchant in the Blountsville area who issued this interesting scrip note. Similar to the $1 denomination, this example features a depiction of Justice at left which was also featured on the T15 Confederate Treasury Note of 1861 and a map of Alabama at center. However, a large green "TWO" overprint is showcased at lower center instead of the green "ONE" overprint which graces the face of the $1. We have offered just two examples of this $2 denomination previously. PMG comments on several pieces added to our current offering.
