Description

New Orleans, LA- James Andrews $1 Apr. 1, 1862 PMG Choice Fine 15.
Andrews was a note and exchange broker who also operated a pawn broker business of sorts. He was located at the corner of Canal and St. Charles Streets "upstairs at the Photograph Rooms" in New Orleans. Another ad indicates that he loaned money by the "day, week, or year." The note, printed in blue, depicts a passenger train at center and has a vignette of a pelican feeding her young at left. A large red ONE protector completes the design. We last auctioned this note for just over $1,057 a decade ago in our 2016 FUN Currency Signature Auction. PMG mentions edge damage.
