Cahawba, AL- State of Alabama $5 June 16, 1821 Cr. C24 Gunther-Derby AS-001-$5f PCGS Banknote Choice Very Fine 35.This $5 was part of an 1821 issue made specifically to pay members of the General Assembly. In this case, the payee was Harden Perkins who later served as a director of the Bank of the State of Alabama. The note is well printed on bright paper and is hammer canceled, with Shull estimating a surviving population of five to fifteen examples.
