Description

Zanesville, OH- Muskingum Bank $5 18__ Proof G16 Wolka 2945-15 PMG Choice Uncirculated 64.
This bank was chartered in 1812 with most sources indicating it failed in 1819. It was temporarily revived in 1835 and managed to stay afloat until its charter expired in 1842. Seen with the imprint of Murray, Draper, Fairman & Co. at bottom center. The note is printed on India paper mounted on cardstock. A pleasing vignette of a husband and wife standing in front of the water with their home in the background. One of only two known. The other was the PCGS New 61 that sold for $558.13 as part of our landmark Wolka collection.
