Cumberland, MD- Allegany County Bank $5 (2); $10 1860-62 Fine-Very Fine.
The Allegany County Bank opened in 1858 and closed just six years later in 1864. The $5 notes in this lot feature a vignette of coal miners on break at center, three allegorical females supporting a large "5" die counter at left, a portrait of a young girl at upper left, and a bald eagle perched atop a federal shield at right. the two notes feature different (orange and green) overall tints and protectors. The $10 features coal miners at work flanked by two female portraits. The $10 has a red overall tint, three bicolor counters, and a red TEN protector. The red and orange tint notes have some signs of oxidation (Total: 3 notes)
