Wickford, (RI)- Washington Lodge Lottery Lottery Ticket Second Class 1826 Fine-Very Fine.
Some edge tears. The General Assembly of Rhode Island authorized this lottery in October, 1825. The sum, not to exceed $4,000, was for the building of the Masonic Hall. Clarke, Wightman, and Rathbun were assigned as the lottery managers. First class tickets were drawn on February 22, 1826. The Second class tickets were drawn a month later on March 21-23. There were 12,000 tickets issued for $1.80 each, with a total of 5,727 tickets sold. The only example we have sold.
