Description

Savannah, GA- Merchants and Planters Bank $100 July 3, 1856 G16a PCGS Very Fine 25.
The bank was organized in 1856 and was placed in receivership sometime before the end of 1868 when a notice was published ordering creditors to make claims within six months from the date of the court order, September 1, 1868. The $100 features a vignette of Agriculture seated. Ceres is seated by the Georgia coat of arms at left and a sailor is seated by a C counter at right. A red 100 protector completes the design.
