HB-32 EP-34b Scott-15b Reed-AS03LG 3¢ Ayer's Sarsaparilla Large Ayer's Extremely Fine.Numerical grade: 75case.70mica.65stamp. = 210.
A Large Ayer's lettering variety in a bronze-gold encasement is in this lot. The advertising side displays a spot of muted red and there is also a small amount of silvering trapped within the lettering. The stamp has several wrinkles and the centering is just a touch high. The mica is free of problems in direct light, while tilting the piece brings into play scattered crazing with the largest concentration being in the 6 to 8 o'clock area up to Washington's bust. This is an R-3 number according to the Reed opus, 41-50 known.
