Description

Nevada Territory, Gould & Curry Silver Mining Company receipt for services issued at Virginia City, December 16, 1865. Signed by E.L. Capen, who was paid $150 by the company "for services as watchman for the month ending November 30th ultimo." This document attests that the job of watchman was a high paying one in 1865, since one hundred and fifty dollars was an appreciable sum in those days. A relic of the free-wheeling wild west days. Printed by Towne & Bacon in San Francisco. Item measures approximately 7.5" by 3.75". Condition is As New.
