Description

Spain Banco de Espana 25 Pesetas 1.6.1889 Pick 39 PMG Very Fine 30.
The redesign of the 1889 issues once again feature famed printer Francisco Jose de Goya Lucientes across all denominations. The Bank of Spain's engraving of the back design here provides a nearly three dimensional look, with King Croesus at center. Despite being the lowest denomination of the issue, it is still exceedingly scarce, with only a few appearances at auction in the last decade. The paper is bright and attractive, and the printed inks are bold, essentially as issued. A restoration is noted by PMG, but is insignificant.
