China Ta Ch'ing Pao Ch'ao 5000 Cash 1858 (Yr. 8) Pick A5c S/M#T6-52 PMG Extremely Fine 40.
A scarcer denomination and year, examples of this type seldom cross the auction block. In fact this is only the fourth time we have offered this Pick number in the last 10 years, with this example being the finest grade. These larger denomination type issues generally saw less circulation on the market. The red chop to the right of the denomination is essentially a legal tender clause, allowing use by merchants and acceptable for tax payments in Jiangsu Province. A small hole is mentioned for accuracy.
