Japan Greater Japan Imperial National Bank, Tokyo #15 5 Yen ND (1878) Pick 21 JNDA 11-15 PMG Very Fine 30.
These notes were printed domestically in Japan, and have designs that are influenced by the older American series. The mint-green underprint accentuates the red Finance Ministry seal on the left and the vignette of blacksmiths on the right. A skillfully detailed note that is certainly highlighted by the condition. A clean, problem free example of the second, higher denomination note from the 1877-78 issue. Rare in any form, and a chance not to be missed.
