Description

Iran Bank Markazi 10,000 Rials ND (1972-73) Pick 96b PMG About Uncirculated 55 EPQ.
Iran's highest denomination of the Shah era is always popular and desirable. This example features the second of two signature variations. Unusually light circulation and completely original paper earn this note the coveted EPQ designation. At the time of issue, the exchange rate was $1 = 75.75 Rials, which made this denomination equivalent to $132 USD. Small initial print totals and a high face value limited the number of this beautiful banknote that survived redemption, especially during the Revolutionary era near the end of the 1970s. Rare in this grade and a most handsome type note.
