Description

Chile Banco de Jose Bunster 20 Pesos ND (ca. 1882-98) Pick S134s Specimen PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ.
Potentially the highest or second highest denomination of the Bank of Jose Bunster series. It is likely that although Specimen were prepared for this Chilean bank, no notes were actually issued, although unused stock of 1 Peso notes were repurposed by the Republic of Chile in 1898. This gigantic and beautiful 20 Pesos is seen with intricate and pretty design elements on both sides. An extra wide margin side margin with two stub portions is mentioned for accuracy. At the time of cataloging, only two Specimen of this denomination are graded in the PMG Population Report. Very rare and most interesting. Hole punched and overprint cancelled. Jose Bunster was a prolific Chilean businessman in the 19th-century and a prominent figure in commerce in Latin America and beyond.
