Flashy $5 1886 Silver Certificate
Fr. 263 $5 1886 Silver Certificate PCGS Banknote Choice AU
58.A lovely Silver Dollar Back $5 which displays all the brightness and flash of a Gem with the cost of an AU. We cannot find any handling on this example through the third party encapsulation. The colors and paper quality are exceptional, while the back is printed slightly at a downward angle. This note made its first appearance on a Stanley Morycz January 1992 fixed price list. The last third party graded 58 example that crossed the auction block was a PMG 58 piece that realized $8,400 in 2022.
